"Plop Plop Fizz Fizz"

"Plop Plop Fizz Fizz,
 ralo didn't sing this.
 Plop Plop Fizz Fizz
Oh what a relief THAT is."
-Pumpa (Manager)

"This was a national contest to reinvent the famous Alka Seltzer jingle.  I put the lyrics and music together and Fann sang the vocals on the last day of the deadline before we shipped it off and hoped for fame and fortune."

-Chris (Sound Engineer)
"So, remind me the next time you want to come over and jam, to bring my own music.  Songs about carbonated medicine aren't necessarily what I would call "getting down"."
-Fann (Vocalist)
"So, I didn't get to write, sing, or dance in this one.  Perhaps demoing the product is still available? (burp!)"
-Ralo (Singer/Song Writer)

About the Song

Production

PlopPlopFizzFizz I wrote the tune while running on a treadmill one night.  It was just after I heard the announcement on NPR.  I didn't have any paper, so I just drilled the song over and over in my head until I finished jogging.  It was the longest 13.5 seconds of my life.

Note I want to send a special thank you to Laurie Harden, who helped me completely restructure the song to emphasize the strong chorus up front.  Steve Alcorn, and David Geoghegan also made a large impact on the lyrics of the diddy.  Thanks Guys!

I used Fruity Loops for the drum pattern, the adrenalinn for the fill guitar and amplified guitars, and I experimented with a box of alka seltzer tablets in all sorts of containers - metal thermoses, big glass vases, simple tumbler glasses.  In the end, the sound effect I used was generated from an aluminum coffee mug, the two alka seltzer tablets, about 1.5" of water and my microphone buried deep into the cup.  Once the tune was mixed, I drove over to Fann's crib in Orlando, where she belted out the vocals like the pro she is - 3 days before Christmas no less!   - Thanks Fann!
